What is BeAM?
The Berlin-Adlershof Center for Advanced Microscopy is a joint venture of the Department of Physics and the Center for the Science of Materials Berlin of Humboldt-Universität with the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin for Materials and Energy (HZB), the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society (FHI) and the Leibniz Institute for Crystal Growth (IKZ). It combines complementary electron microscopes to cover a very wide range of electron beam based techniques for characterizing the atomic and electronic structure of materials as well as their dynamics under different applied stimuli (temperature, light, electrical biasing, different gas atmospheres at different pressures, etc.) or under operando conditions (catalysis, batteries, etc.).
