DESCRIPTION:Pierangelo Metrangolo ( https://www.cmic.polimi.it/en/ricerca/elenco-gruppi-di-ricerca/suprabionanolab/ ) is Full Professor at Politecnico di Milano. He also holds positions as Visiting Professor at VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland and at the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Engineering of Biosynthetic Hybrid Materials (HYBER) at Aalto University, Finland, where he chairs the local node of the UNESCO/UNITWIN Chair “GREENOMICS”.\nHis honors and awards include election as a Member of Academia Europaea (2026), Chemistry Europe Fellow (Class 2024/2025, awarded 2026), the Humboldt Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany (2025), and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Tampere, Finland (2025). Earlier distinctions include the “Giorgio Modena” Medal of the Italian Chemical Society (2021), the Fluorous Technologies Award (2019), the IUPAC Young Chemist Award (2009), the CrystEngComm Lectureship (2009), the “G. Ciamician” Medal of the Division of Organic Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society (2005), and the Journals Grant Award of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2005). In 2017, he won the SWITCH2PRODUCT Innovation Challenge of Politecnico di Milano with the project MINIRES.\nHe is Chair of the Editorial Board of CrystEngComm (RSC), Co-Editor of Acta Crystallographica B (IUCr), and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Crystal Growth & Design (ACS).\nHe is the author of more than 290 scientific publications, with over 19,500 citations and an H-index of 63.\nHe is currently Vice-President and President-Elect of the IUPAC Physical and Biophysical Chemistry Division (Division I).
